Artistic Wire (also known as Art Wire) has long been the go to choice for wire wrapping but it is also suitable for looming, chain maille, jig work, weaving, viking knit and even crochet.
26 Gauge is a very popular size for tight wrapping - dead soft for flexibility but it holds its shape beautifully. Thickness increases as the gauge number decreases.
FINISH NOTES:
- Gold is plated with pure silver first then plated with gold. This provides excellent tarnish resistance.
- Bare Yellow Brass has a lacquer coating to make it resistant to tarnish and discoloration - depending on exposure to chemicals, salt and the degree of shaping (hammering, bending, re-shaping, etc.)
- Bare Phosphor Bronze, sometimes called tin bronze, is a great choice for antique or vintage styling. It naturally patinas over time. Its alloy content of tin and phosphorous makes it excellent to resist corrosion and can be soldered.
